About Me

About

I’m Trevor, a Unity/C# developer who builds and ships games and applications. I’m a Co-Founder of Squid Shock Studios, I served as Lead Programmer on the published indie title Bo: Path of the Teal Lotus, and I’ve shipped multiple mobile games over the years. I’m focused on performance, maintainability, shipping, and building scalable systems that hold up in production.

Available for collaboration, consulting, and contract work in Unity development and production engineering. I’m also open to non-game application work.

Feel free to check out some of my work below and reach out via email at trevoryoungquist2.0@gmail.com!

My Work

Bō: Path of the Teal Lotus

Bō is a hand-drawn 2.5D metroidvania based on Japanese folklore. It was published by Humble Games and released on Steam, Nintendo Switch, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S in July 2024.

This was the first major release of Squid Shock Studios, and I served as the Lead Programmer on the project. I led engineering end-to-end, including movement, combat, AI encounters, interactions, dialogue, progression/charms, save/load, UI architecture, and FMOD integration (events, parameter control). Bo went from a vague concept, to a successful Kickstarter campaign with $175,000 in funding, to a successful indie release on all major platforms over the span of around 4 years!

Black Hole Bloom

Black Hole Bloom is an endless, satisfying absorb-and-grow mobile game with smooth controls and music that pulls you in. Start as a small black hole and glide through the map, pulling objects into your orbit as you grow. I designed and implemented core gameplay + systems architecture and UI architecture (menus, upgrades, progression flow). I also implemented FMOD end-to-end (events, mixing, parameters) and integrated composer-provided music/SFX into Unity from FMOD Studio.

Check it out on the Play Store! It's free to download and I'm currently in the process of releasing it on the App Store as well.

Fox Phrase: A Word Party Game

Created in 2021 by Squid Shock Studios, this mobile word game has the most fun parts of other words games - the frantic nature of "Hot Potato", the manic gestures of "Charades" and the creative communication skills necessary for "Taboo". Sit down with a friend or a group and see if you can get each other to guess the word on the screen before the timer runs out!

This app is no longer supported on neither the Play Store nor the App Store, but you can check out the code of the project on my Github!

Privacy Policy for Black Hole Bloom

Black Hole Bloom ("the App") is a mobile game developed and provided by Trevor Youngquist ("we," "us"). This Privacy Policy explains how information is collected, used, and shared when you use the App.

1) No Accounts

The App does not require you to create an account and does not include login features.

2) Information We Collect

We do not ask you to provide personal information to play. Some information may still be collected automatically to operate the App, serve ads, process purchases, and improve stability.

A) Information Collected Automatically

Depending on your device and the services used in the App, the App and its service providers may collect:

  • Device information (device model, operating system version, language/region)
  • Identifiers used for advertising and fraud prevention (for example, the Android Advertising ID or other device/app identifiers)
  • Approximate location (often inferred from IP address)
  • App activity / usage data (such as app interactions, session duration, ad interactions)
  • Diagnostics (crash logs and performance data)
B) Information You Provide

Feedback: If you submit feedback through the App (for example via email or a feedback form), we receive the information you choose to send (such as message text and an email address if you include it).

3) Advertising

The App includes ads. Ads are provided by third-party advertising partners. These partners may collect and use information (such as device identifiers, IP address, and app activity) to:

  • Show ads in the App
  • Measure ad performance and frequency
  • Detect and prevent fraud/abuse
  • And, where permitted, personalize ads

Your choices: You can usually limit ad personalization using your Android settings (for example, Google > Ads).

4) In-App Purchases

The App may offer in-app purchases (including an option to remove ads). Purchases are processed by the app store provider (such as Google Play). We do not receive your full payment card details. We may receive purchase confirmations and product information to unlock content and support purchase restoration.

5) Reviews

The App may prompt you to leave a review using Google Play's in-app review flow. Any review you choose to submit is handled by Google Play under its policies.

6) How We Use Information

Information is used to:

  • Operate and improve the App
  • Serve ads and measure ad performance
  • Process and restore purchases
  • Troubleshoot bugs and crashes
  • Respond to feedback/support requests
  • Detect and prevent fraud/abuse

7) Sharing of Information

We do not sell personal information.

We may share information with:

  • Advertising partners (to serve and measure ads)
  • The app store/provider (to process purchases and distribute the App)
  • Service providers used for app operations (for example, crash reporting or analytics providers, if used)
  • Legal authorities if required by law or to protect rights, safety, and prevent fraud

8) Children and Families

The App is family-friendly and may be used by children.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has provided personal information to us through the App (for example, by sending an email), please contact us and we will take reasonable steps to delete it.

Because the App includes ads and may include in-app purchases, parents and guardians should supervise children's use of the App and device settings.

9) Data Retention

We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes described above. Purchase records are managed by the app store.
