I’m Trevor, a Unity/C# developer who builds and ships games and applications. I’m a Co-Founder of Squid Shock Studios, I served as Lead Programmer on the published indie title Bo: Path of the Teal Lotus, and I’ve shipped multiple mobile games over the years. I’m focused on performance, maintainability, shipping, and building scalable systems that hold up in production.
Available for collaboration, consulting, and contract work in Unity development and production engineering. I’m also open to non-game application work.
Feel free to check out some of my work below and reach out via email at trevoryoungquist2.0@gmail.com!
My Work
Bō is a hand-drawn 2.5D metroidvania based on Japanese folklore. It was published by Humble Games and released on Steam, Nintendo Switch, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S in July 2024.
This was the first major release of Squid Shock Studios, and I served as the Lead Programmer on the project. I led engineering end-to-end, including movement, combat, AI encounters, interactions, dialogue, progression/charms, save/load, UI architecture, and FMOD integration (events, parameter control). Bo went from a vague concept, to a successful Kickstarter campaign with $175,000 in funding, to a successful indie release on all major platforms over the span of around 4 years!
Black Hole Bloom is an endless, satisfying absorb-and-grow mobile game with smooth controls and music that pulls you in. Start as a small black hole and glide through the map, pulling objects into your orbit as you grow. I designed and implemented core gameplay + systems architecture and UI architecture (menus, upgrades, progression flow). I also implemented FMOD end-to-end (events, mixing, parameters) and integrated composer-provided music/SFX into Unity from FMOD Studio.
Check it out on the Play Store! It's free to download and I'm currently in the process of releasing it on the App Store as well.
Created in 2021 by Squid Shock Studios, this mobile word game has the most fun parts of other words games - the frantic nature of "Hot Potato", the manic gestures of "Charades" and the creative communication skills necessary for "Taboo". Sit down with a friend or a group and see if you can get each other to guess the word on the screen before the timer runs out!
This app is no longer supported on neither the Play Store nor the App Store, but you can check out the code of the project on my Github!
